Armenia's Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, and his deputy, Narek Terian, visited the Rusal Armenal plant on April 11. This plant specializes in aluminum foil production. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize themselves with the company's current activities and plans.
During the visit, the minister, accompanied by the plant's CEO, Arthur Zakaryan, toured the plant's premises and examined its technological capabilities and production conditions.
The main focus was on discussing the company's activities, identifying existing problems, and exploring possible solutions. The minister was presented with mechanisms of state support that can contribute to increasing the productivity and competitiveness of the plant. Prospects for creating preferential conditions for exporting products to third countries were also outlined.
Currently, the Ministry of Economy, in collaboration with the company, is actively working on developing new strategies to diversify the markets for the plant's products and successfully implement them in alternative markets.
From January to November 2023, Armenia produced approximately 24 thousand tons of aluminum foil, which is 20.1% less than the previous year. A significant portion of this production is exported. The largest producer and exporter of aluminum foil in the country is Rusal Armenal CJSC.
In the first half of 2023, export volumes decreased by 16.5%, reaching 13.1 thousand tons. The main recipient countries of Armenian aluminum foil are Germany, Spain, Poland, and the Netherlands.
