In January 2024, Armenia registered a decrease in the number of newborns by 10.7% compared to the same period in 2023.
According to the publication of the Statistical Committee of Armenia, during the reporting period, 3,108 children were born in the country, while in January 2023, 3,481 babies were born.
During the same period, there was a decrease in the number of stillbirths by 25%, which amounted to 24 cases compared to the same period in 2023.
BMG reported that during the same period, the total number of deaths in the country in January 2023 was 2,571 people, which is 3% more than in January 2023. The most common cause of death was diseases of the circulatory system, accounting for more than half of all cases (57.9% or 1,488 people).
The second most common cause of mortality was neoplasms, which increased by 3.1% to 460 people.
