During the business forum "India-Armenia: Bridging Business Horizons", held in Yerevan on March 14, the Ambassador of India to Armenia Nilakshi Saha Sinha noted that as of today, the annual trade turnover between Armenia and India amounts to only $200 million.
The ambassador emphasized that the idea of holding the forum arose about a month ago in connection with the need to strengthen business contacts between Armenia and India. She expressed hope for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
Nilakshi Saha Sinha also reminded of the previously signed agreement between Armenia and India in the field of high technologies and emphasized the importance of cooperation in the fields of high technologies, education, tourism, infrastructure, logistics, pharmaceuticals, and "green" technologies.
The diplomat noted that Indians are the second largest community after Russians among foreigners in Armenia.
Recently, India and Armenia have been strengthening their relations. According to Indian media reports, which have not been refuted by Armenian official sources, Armenia has concluded deals with India for the purchase of weaponry worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
Earlier, with reference to Indian Aerospace Defense News, BMG reported on the creation of an air corridor from India to Armenia for strategic exports. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) jointly formed a working group called HALCON. The goal of this group is to improve logistics between India and Armenia.
