Infrastructure Ministry: GEL 425 MLN Allocated to Complete 77 School Projects

სკოლა

Georgia’s Infrastructure Ministry says the Municipal Development Fund is actively managing delayed school construction and problematic infrastructure projects, with a total of 77 facilities being completed under ongoing works worth GEL 425 million.

The update was presented to 72 school directors and parents by Infrastructure Minister Revaz Sokhadze, Education Minister Givi Mikanadze, Regional Development Minister Kakha Guledani, and Municipal Development Fund Head Giorgi Shonia. Officials provided information on project status, planned steps, and implementation timelines.

According to the ministry, the 77 projects were transferred from the now-abolished Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development Agency (ESIDA), which was dissolved on September 1, 2025. The portfolio includes 53 new school constructions, 14 full rehabilitations, and 10 design projects currently underway.

Authorities said additional time has been required in some cases to align projects with modern standards, incorporate expert recommendations, and re-run procurement procedures. Alongside these works, the government is also implementing additional school construction and rehabilitation projects with international co-financing, while standardized designs are being prepared for wider rollout in 2026.
