The interim parliamentary commission on food, medicines and fuel prices will appeal to Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, with the initiative to invite an international company to study challenges and prepare recommendations in parallel with the commission’s work.
According to Commission Chair Shota Berekashvili, a tender will be announced to select the international company. The commission members supported the initiative.
Shota Berekashvili explained that the international company will examine processes in the Georgian business, compare Georgia to similar countries, the structure of other countries’ markets and draft recommendations.
“This will be a good step, since in parallel to the work of our commission, we will have a document, seen through different perspectives, evaluated from the outside, which will significantly help our commission’s work to ultimately draw a conclusion,” he said.
The next meeting of the parliamentary commission on consumer prices will be held on Friday, February 13.
