Investigation Service Uncovers 61 Cases of Illegal Cigarette Trade Since May 1

Georgia's Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance says it has uncovered 61 cases involving the storage, transportation, and sale of large quantities of excise goods without mandatory excise stamps between May 1 and the present.

According to the agency, criminal charges have been brought against 83 individuals during the period, with 38 suspects detained.

Investigators seized 63,852 packs of non-excise cigarettes and electronic cigarettes of various brands intended for sale. The total market value of the confiscated products is estimated at GEL 387,864.
