On October 3, the Armenian government approved a plan to develop the country’s preschool education system. The program envisions the construction, major renovation, or reconstruction of 500 kindergartens and preschool institutions by 2026.
Statistics show that out of 236,000 preschool-aged children in Armenia, about 154,000 do not have access to preschool education. The situation is particularly critical in rural areas, where about 62,000 children are unable to attend kindergartens. In 229 communities across the country, preschool education services are entirely absent.
The approved program goes beyond just constructing and repairing buildings. It aims to create a modern educational environment with appropriate infrastructure and equipment.
Special attention is being given to rural areas, where preschools are planned to be transformed into multifunctional community centers, providing not only educational services but also cultural, sports, and recreational opportunities for the entire population.
The government has also set criteria for determining the necessary scope of work at each specific institution, allowing for the efficient allocation of resources and ensuring maximum returns on investment.
