Investors are showing interest in large hydropower projects in Georgia, although no final decision has yet been made on a specific investor, Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) Chairman Davit Narmania said in response to a BMG question.
According to Narmania, interested investors are holding meetings, conducting calculations and consulting with the regulator about applicable rules, regulations and procedures. “It is a live process,” he said.
Narmania said investors are generally interested in various large hydropower projects and are assessing their status, regulatory environment, tariffs and other details before making investment decisions.
He added that once a final decision is made regarding a specific investor, the information will be made public.
