Georgia imported 9,567 tons of watermelons worth $2.9 million in the first half of 2026, a slight increase from the same period last year, according to official trade data.

Iran became the country's largest supplier, exporting 4,823 tons worth $1.4 million. Turkey followed with 4,335 tons valued at $1.3 million, while smaller volumes were imported from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and the Netherlands.

Last year, Turkey was Georgia’s leading watermelon import source, but Iran has now taken the top position.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s watermelon exports declined sharply. Between January and June, the country exported just 67 tons worth $33,600, down from 728 tons worth $275,700 a year earlier. Armenia, Russia, and Ukraine were the main export destinations.
