Following negotiations with the Inspection Authority for Food Safety of the Republic of Armenia, Iran is resuming the transit transportation of large horned livestock from Armenia through its territory. This was reported by the press service of the Armenian regulator.

According to the agreement reached at a meeting in February of this year, the animals must be transported through the territory of Iran without stops or unloading.

Several key issues were discussed at the meeting between representatives of the Armenian and Iranian governments, including the possibility of opening breeding centers for pedigree livestock, joint production of vaccines, as well as the construction of a quarantine checkpoint for the transit transportation of large horned livestock and the conduct of final veterinary examinations.

According to official statistics, the trade turnover between Armenia and Iran for January-February 2024 amounted to $88 million, which is 15% less than in the same period last year.
