Trucks filled with humanitarian aid from the Iranian Red Crescent have successfully crossed the border between Armenia and Iran.
This information was provided by the Armenian Red Cross Society, emphasizing that the Iranian Red Crescent, as a partner of the Armenian Red Cross Society, has offered its support to citizens affected by the natural disaster in the Lori region.
Upon arrival in Yerevan, the trucks will be directed to the international rehabilitation center of the Armenian Red Cross Society.
The official reception of the trucks will be organized in Yerevan with the participation of representatives from the Iranian embassy, the Red Crescent, and the president of the Armenian Red Cross Society, David Nersisyan.
Earlier, BMG reported that the Armenian government declared several settlements in Lori and Tavush provinces disaster zones following severe floods caused by heavy rains on May 25-26, 2024.
As a result of the disaster, 4 people died, 18 bridges were destroyed, and 7 settlements were cut off from the rest of the region. To address the urgent needs of the local population, 300 million drams (approximately $800,000) have already been allocated.
