TBC IT specialist Giorgi Makharadze told BM.GE that information technologies are focused on development and the creation of new products, while Russia’s IT direction is mainly focused on fraud and hacking.
According to him, at a time when such processes are taking place in the country, IT representatives could not sit at their computers and think about creating new products.
“The reason for this protest is the current events in the country, the oppression of people, the violation of the constitution, whether it is in the direction of European integration or human rights. Accordingly, we could not just sit back and do our job quietly.
You probably know that information technologies are a development-oriented field. It is developing every day. We need to keep up with this, but the environment is very important for this, because you can’t just sit back and develop a product if your country is going backwards and there is such a repressive environment.
In Europe and in the West in general, modern products are being created in the direction of startups or fintech, and we look at them, we repeat the best experiences and create products that are relevant for them, that is, for various Western markets. The Russian IT direction is mainly based on fraud and hacking. How to crack licensed products and ruin the business. They are probably strong in that direction, but we do not want to waste our resources on this. We want to develop, offer people modern products and keep up with modern trends,” said Giorgi Makharadze.
Representatives of the IT and technological sphere held a protest march from the Republic Square to the Parliament building.
Flags of Georgia and the European Union were brought to their place, as well as banners of various contents. Traffic on Rustaveli Avenue was partially blocked.
