Georgia’s government expects to revise its 2026 economic growth forecast upward, First Deputy Finance Minister Giorgi Kakauridze said during a presentation of the six-month budget performance to Parliament’s Sports Committee.
Kakauridze said the economy was initially projected to grow by 5.5% this year, but stronger-than-expected activity has prompted an updated forecast of 6.3%. He now expects growth to reach between 6.5% and 7% by year-end.
Real economic growth reached 9% in the first quarter, followed by 6.2% in April, 6.4% in May and 8.6% in June. Growth stood at 7.9% over the first seven months, while July recorded 8%.
The National Bank of Georgia has also raised its 2026 growth forecast from 5% to 6.5%, while the International Monetary Fund increased its forecast in June from 5.3% to 6.5%.
