The preliminary feasibility study for the construction of two new cable cars in the capital, prepared by the international consulting company Sistra, has been completed, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced at a municipal government session.

According to Kaladze, a tender for construction will be launched in the near future. The projects include cable car lines connecting:

  • Sarajishvili metro station and Zgvisubani (4 stations, serving approx. 22,000 passengers per day)
  • Isani metro station and Vazisubani (5 stations, serving approx. 35,000 passengers per day)

“These projects are of strategic importance for Tbilisi. They will ease traffic and reduce congestion, while providing fast and convenient links to metro stations,” Kaladze stated.

The mayor also confirmed that the existing cable car line connecting Samgori metro station and Vazisubani will be dismantled and replaced with a new, modern line.

Kaladze emphasized that the planned developments are part of the city’s broader strategy to expand public transport infrastructure and improve urban mobility.
