Tbilisi’s Municipal Infrastructure Development Service has begun construction of a reinforced-concrete underground drainage collector near 58 Niko Ketskhoveli Street in the Gldani district.

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said at a municipal government meeting that the project aims to regulate an existing open ravine and improve safety in the area. The site lies in the riverbed of the Khevdzmarа River, where surface water currently flows through an open channel, posing potential risks to nearby infrastructure and public safety.

Following a detailed assessment by specialists, authorities determined that enclosing the ravine in a covered collector was necessary to manage water flows safely and protect the surrounding infrastructure.

The project provides the construction of a 200-meter-long reinforced-concrete underground drainage collector. The surrounding area will also be improved to make it safer for local residents.
