Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has pledged to provide assistance, within the municipality’s capabilities, to traders affected by a fire at the so-called pedestrian bridge area near Station Square.

In a video address posted on social media, Kaladze said the Tbilisi City Hall would thoroughly examine the situation and explore ways to support those who suffered losses in the fire.

According to the mayor, the municipality will not leave the affected residents to deal with the consequences on their own.

“A fire broke out at the so-called pedestrian bridge at Station Square, where many people engage in economic activities, creating a major problem for a large number of people. Today, a group of these individuals came to City Hall seeking assistance. I discussed the matter with the Prime Minister. Irakli Kobakhidze instructed me to examine the issue in detail,” Kaladze said.

He added that City Hall would immediately begin communicating with the affected traders to assess their situation and determine what assistance could be provided.

Deputy Mayor Giorgi Tkemaladze is ready to meet with a representatives' group, listen to their concerns and launch a detailed assessment of the damage, Kaladze said.

“We will help you within our capabilities, stand by your side and not leave you alone to face these problems,” the mayor stated.
