Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze says the government will respond immediately to any credible evidence of corruption involving the current leadership of ministries or state-owned enterprises.
Speaking in response to a question from BMG about whether further arrests could be expected as part of anti-corruption efforts, including individuals connected to state-owned companies, Kobakhidze said criminal investigations are the responsibility of relevant law enforcement agencies.
However, he stressed that the government is confident in the integrity of the current system. “If anyone brings even a single fact related to corruption involving the current leadership of a ministry or state enterprise, I promise there will be an immediate response,” Kobakhidze said.
He added that reforms and procedural improvements have significantly reduced opportunities for corruption, arguing that critics have failed to present evidence against current officials. At the same time, he noted that several corruption-related criminal cases have already been launched and that investigative bodies continue to examine relevant cases.
