In Irakli Kobakhidze's assessment, the statement released by Irakli Garibashvili is problematic primarily for the former Prime Minister himself, though he added that he would refrain from making in-depth comments on the matter.
When asked by a journalist to evaluate Garibashvili's statement, Kobakhidze noted that as the current Prime Minister, it would not be ethically proper for him to comment on his predecessor's words.
"I saw this statement. I do not know what this is about. I know one thing—that a specific verdict has been delivered. The rest is entirely up to law enforcement agencies. I cannot comment on his statement at all, partly because Irakli Garibashvili held this position before me, and therefore, ethically speaking, it would not be right for me to judge his statement.
It is a very problematic statement; I will not make further comments. Problematic not for us, but problematic for him. Out of ethical standards, I will say no more. He held this position before me. Ethical standards exist that restrict me from making statements on this topic," Kobakhidze said.
Yesterday, former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, who is currently in custody, wrote on social media that "as of today, Bidzina Ivanishvili and the entire government bear full responsibility for the safety of myself and my family."
