GD Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with senior officials from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), including Alejandro Hajdenberg, Head of the IMF Mission; Jeroen Clicq, the Fund’s Executive Director; and Andrew Jewell, the IMF’s Resident Representative for Georgia.
During the meeting, they discussed Georgia’s economic growth trajectory, macroeconomic stability, and the vital role of the IMF in supporting structural reforms. Kobakhidze emphasized ongoing efforts to reform the management of state-owned enterprises, highlighting this as a key recommendation from the IMF and noting that active measures are being taken to enhance their efficiency.
The conversation covered progress in diversifying markets, strengthening regional trade relations, developing capital markets, and improving energy security.
Prime Minister Kobakhidze reaffirmed Georgia’s commitment to close cooperation with the IMF and expressed satisfaction with the Fund’s forecasts, which align with the government’s economic outlook.
The IMF officials, participating in Georgia as part of the Article 4 consultation, conveyed their readiness to continue working closely with the Georgian government to support sustainable economic development.
