GD Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced that Georgia has completely restructured its privatisation strategy to maximise state benefits and reduce costs, highlighting the government’s broader goal of positioning the country among the top three European nations with the lowest levels of corruption.
“Everything must be done to achieve our ambitious goal: to secure a place among the top three European countries in terms of low corruption. While this is ambitious, I believe it is realistic,” Kobakhidze said during a government session.
The Prime Minister explained that all state assets are now placed on open auction to ensure transparency and maximum returns. According to him, staff optimisation and operational efficiencies within state-owned enterprises are saving the government tens of millions of GEL annually, with total savings reaching approximately GEL 700 million.
“Substantial cost-saving measures have been implemented, especially within state-owned companies. We are saving hundreds of millions through efficiency improvements. Of course, we must continue this momentum. With the steps we are taking, our goal of ranking among Europe’s least corrupt nations is absolutely achievable,” Kobakhidze concluded.
