Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said former Georgian Dream leader Irakli Garibashvili was involved in corruption, arguing that some people view corruption as “natural” and cannot understand why the public or ruling party is angry about it.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze said serious problems in the country, including corruption, cannot be covered up by what he called “false campaigns.” He said there had been serious corruption-related problems involving the former ruling-party leader.
“Some people apparently see corruption as something organic and do not even understand why the public, including the team, could be angry with a former team leader for being involved in corruption,” Kobakhidze said.
According to the prime minister, some people simply do not understand that corruption is wrong or why it causes public dissatisfaction. “That is their business. Our responsibility is to enforce the law on all issues,” he said.
