Georgia aims to make the Middle Corridor faster, more reliable and predictable, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at the Georgia International Maritime Forum in Batumi. He noted the route’s growing importance as Europe and Asia seek more diversified and resilient trade connections.
The government plans to mobilize around $7 billion by 2032 for transport and logistics infrastructure. The plan includes doubling railway and port capacity and cutting cargo transit times by half. More than GEL 1 billion is expected to be invested in railway infrastructure and rolling stock this year.
Kobakhidze also highlighted the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project, which is under construction, and said Georgia is recording strong growth across maritime, rail and aviation sectors in 2026. The port will follow a landlord model, with the state developing core infrastructure and private companies operating terminals.
He stressed that stronger Black Sea connectivity and regional cooperation are key to the Middle Corridor’s success. Kobakhidze also highlighted maritime safety, professional training and international standards as priorities for Georgia’s transport sector.
