Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said construction or rehabilitation works have been completed at nearly 30 schools ahead of the 2026-27 academic year. Around 45,000 first-graders will start school, including 38,000 in public and 7,000 in private schools.

Kobakhidze said school textbooks will also be fully revised in the near future to align with the national curriculum and general education goals, while reflecting what he described as Georgia’s traditional values.

Robotics clubs will open in 100 schools, while STEM clubs will be added to another 100, bringing the total number of schools with STEM clubs to 500. The military studies program will also expand to 240 schools.

The government is additionally expanding values education clubs and introducing elective courses in financial and media literacy, reading literacy and artificial intelligence. Georgian-language sectors have opened in 21 non-Georgian schools, with more than 600 bilingual teaching specialists trained.
