“We are launching one of the largest-scale expansion and development projects for Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport; yet another significant milestone achieved through the consistent policy of the Georgian government,” declared the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, during his address at the project’s launch ceremony.
The Head of Government noted that under the terms of the agreement between the state and TAV Georgia, the investor is set to inject over USD 150 million into the project, significantly boosting the capacity of Georgia’s primary international hub.
“Today marks the launch of one of the most ambitious expansion and development projects for Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport, which stands as another major testament to our government’s steadfast policy.
In strict accordance with the agreement concluded between the state and TAV Georgia, which fully safeguards national interests, the investor will commit an investment exceeding ISD 150 million into this initiative. As a result, the operational capacity of Georgia’s primary aviation gateway will expand substantially.
Tbilisi International Airport is one of Georgia’s most critical strategic infrastructure assets, playing a pivotal role in our country’s economic growth, connectivity, and tourism and investment appeal. Modern, efficient infrastructure sharpens the nation’s competitive edge, fosters job creation, and cements Georgia’s position within the regional and global transport network. This is precisely why our administration dedicates unparalleled attention to the delivery of such landmark projects.
When the project is complete, Tbilisi International Airport’s annual capacity will rise to 10 million passengers. Our priority lies not only in infrastructure development but in crafting a modern, comfortable environment for travellers that aligns seamlessly with global standards,” the Prime Minister stated.
