By the decree of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, state protection will be assigned to Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, and Koka Katsitadze, Head of the Special Investigation Service.
The respective government decrees are dated December 26.
Regarding the assignment of state protection for the Chairman of the CEC, the decree states that Kalandarishvili’s state protection will be "extended and assigned based on relevant conditions, until the necessary need is no longer present, from January 1, 2025, to July 1, 2025, in accordance with the minimum standards of state protection."
As for the assignment of state protection for the Head of the Special Investigation Service, the decree specifies that Kacitadze will be granted state protection "until July 1, 2025, according to the minimum standards of state protection, based on relevant conditions, until the necessary need is no longer present."
Both decrees mention that "the implementation of protection measures will be ensured by the Special Service for State Protection."
