Kutaisi International Airport currently has capacity for around 2.5 million passengers a year, but expansion plans are underway, United Airports of Georgia head Levan Moseshvili said.
He said the plans include expanding both airside infrastructure and the passenger terminal, which would allow the airport to handle around 5 million passengers annually.
Moseshvili said the airport has significant potential for expansion due to its location and available land. He added that the surrounding airspace is also suitable for expanding flight operations.
Kutaisi International Airport marked its 14th anniversary on September 28. In January-August 2026, the airport handled more than 1.22 million passengers and around 3,400 flights.
