The National Bank of Georgia published a report on resident commercial banks' loan portfolio as of April 2023.
The volume of loans issued by commercial banks (excluding interbank loans) in April 2023 decreased by 100.18 million GEL or by 0.22% compared to the previous month (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.72%) and constituted 44.77 billion GEL by the end of April 2023. The volume of loans in national currency increased by 139.19 million GEL (0.56%) and the volume of loans in foreign currency decreased by 239.38 million GEL or by 1.20% in the same period (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.92%).
By the end of April 2023, the total volume of national currency denominated loans to resident legal entities issued by commercial banks amounted to 7.35 billion GEL (0.42% less compared to the previous month), and foreign currency denominated loans constituted 12.06 billion GEL (3.15% less; exchange rate effect excluded volume of lending in foreign currency decreased by 1.07%).
During April 2023, the volume of lending to resident household sector increased by 0.29% or 70.99 million GEL, and constituted 24.15 billion GEL by the end of April 2023.
Larization ratio for total loans constituted 55.89% by the end of April 2023 and increased by 0.44 percentage point (exchange rate effect excluded, decreased by 0.09 percentage point), compared to the end of March 2023.
