Georgia's Finance Minister, Lasha Khutsishvili, stated that the country currently does not need to seek new financing from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The minister explained the reasons why Georgia is not requesting a new program from the Fund at this moment.
Khutsishvili emphasized that, despite the fact that the need for a new program does not exist at the present time, the IMF has expressed its readiness to cooperate with Georgia in any format and at any time if necessary.
"Regarding the program, it has been repeatedly stated that the International Monetary Fund is ready to cooperate with us in any format. Based on the needs of the country, which we fully understand, and we appreciate that the IMF is actively working with Georgia, not only regarding ongoing programs but also showing readiness to implement a program if a request is made.
At this stage, there is no need for financing from the International Monetary Fund. Therefore, if such a need arises, I am confident that the IMF will be well-prepared to meet this need," said Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili.
