Georgia’s economy has grown by more than 9.3% on average over the past five years, Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili said at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Summit, highlighting Georgia’s recent economic and infrastructure development.
Khutsishvili said Georgia has completed major sections of the East-West Highway and continues to invest in road, railway, energy and digital connectivity, while working to strengthen energy security and independence. He said modern infrastructure should connect regions and support the smooth functioning of value chains.
According to the minister, Georgia’s economy has grown by an average of more than 9.3% annually over the past five years. He added that the country has maintained fiscal indicators at safe levels while keeping capital expenditure high.
Khutsishvili also stressed the importance of stronger cooperation and dialogue among AIIB member states and a greater role for the bank in supporting such cooperation. He thanked the Qatari government and AIIB for organizing the forum and congratulated the bank’s new president on the successful annual meeting.
