“I generally don’t like court disputes, and what’s done is done,” businessman Lasha Papashvili said, commenting on the Supreme Court’s decision ordering Revaz Vashakidze’s company Chirina to pay GEL 1.6 million to Papashvili’s Kvarelis Baga.

Chirina has already paid the amount to Papashvili’s company. He told BMG that he had appealed the lower court decision and sought full compensation of GEL 4.7 million, but the Supreme Court ultimately upheld the Court of Appeals’ ruling, awarding approximately one-third of the amount requested.

Papashvili said the dispute had initially resulted in a Tbilisi City Court ruling requiring Chirina to pay nearly GEL 5 million. “There is nothing that can be done about it now. What comment should I make?” he said, adding that the so-called “milk scandal” had seriously affected Georgia’s dairy sector.

Chirina had sought to overturn the decisions of the lower courts, while Kvarelis Baga had requested that the first-instance ruling awarding GEL 4.7 million in compensation be upheld. On July 16, 2026, the Supreme Court rejected the requests of both Revaz Vashakidze and Lasha Papashvili and upheld the appellate court’s decision awarding GEL 1.6 million in damages.
