On September 24, a meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, according to the press service of the Armenian government.
The leaders discussed a wide range of issues concerning bilateral relations and the regional situation. Special attention was given to the development of relations between Armenia and the European Union. Prime Minister Pashinyan emphasized the importance of the European Union's consistent support for democratic reforms in Armenia.
One of the key topics of the meeting was the discussion of prospects for the liberalization of the visa regime between Armenia and the EU. Both sides highlighted the importance of initiating a dialogue on this matter, which could be a significant step toward expanding cooperation and facilitating people-to-people contacts.
Pashinyan also briefed the President of Cyprus on the progress of the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. He noted that 80 percent of the draft peace agreement has already been agreed upon, and Armenia is ready to sign the agreement based on the agreed articles while continuing further discussions on the remaining issues.
In addition, the leaders discussed Armenia's government project "Crossroads of Peace," aimed at unblocking regional transport routes. This project is seen as an important step toward stabilizing the regional situation and promoting economic cooperation.
