French President Emmanuel Macron, in an interview with NBC News, spoke about the importance of providing security guarantees for Ukraine. He noted that if this issue is not resolved, Vladimir Putin will attempt the same actions he has repeatedly carried out in the past.
“We know what happens when there are no security guarantees. Remember Russia’s invasion of Georgia in 2008, or the annexation of Crimea in 2014. Vladimir Putin does not want peace. If Ukraine does not have security guarantees, we will see the same things we have seen in the past,” Macron said.
Speaking with NBC, the French President described Putin as a “predatory monster” and said that wars are vital for the Russian president. Macron made it clear that he does not trust the Kremlin leader and fears that if the West does not show unity, Putin will once again attempt to destabilize the situation.
