Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has nominated Maia Bitadze for the position of Georgia’s Minister of Culture.
Bitadze has served as a member of Parliament and chaired the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee. She will take over the ministry following the resignation of Tinatin Rukhadze.
The Culture Minister position became vacant after Rukhadze left office on July 28. In a statement posted on Facebook, she cited health issues as the reason for her resignation.
Rukhadze said her health condition prevented her from giving sufficient attention to work that she greatly valued and loved.
