Mikheil Khidureli, the CEO of Enterprise Georgia, the state agency promoting entrepreneurship, investment and exports, on Thursday said the main domestic sectors that saw Saudi Arabian investments “coincide” with the Agency's priorities.

"These are real estate, hospitality, transport, energy - we see a growing interest in Georgia”, said Khidureli, who made a presentation about the country’s investment climate and opportunities at the ongoing Georgian-Saudi Investment Forum in Tbilisi.

He added investments from Saudi Arabia to Georgia totalled $100 million, which he said was a “low number” for a country with “such investment potential”.

"Therefore, a very large and diversified Forum is taking place. We have more than 100 Saudi companies as visitors, to whom we have shown various enterprises and investment opportunities. We are sure the measures we are implementing [...] will lay the foundation for the development of relations between Georgia and Saudi Arabia”, the agency had noted.

He added there was a “growing interest” from Saudi investors in Georgia.

"This is not the first time investors come from the Gulf countries. We have a very good relationship with the Emirates, several large projects are being developed”, Khidureli pointed out.

The ongoing Forum will discuss investment opportunities in tourism and real estate in Georgia, as well as the country’s potential as a transport, logistics and energy hub.

The schedule also includes signing of memorandums in agriculture, energy and culture between the countries.

About 300 visitors are attending the Forum, including officials from governmental delegations of both countries as well as business representatives.
