Maricultura Georgia plans to export mussels and oysters to Armenia this year.
As Mamuka Mikashavidze, the founder of the company, told BM.GE, the samples and the necessary documents have already been sent to Armenia and they are waiting for feedback.
The seafood harvest period starts in April, while Maricultura Georgia expects to get seafood of about 20 tons this year.
"The situation on the local market was bad in 2021. There were a small number of tourists, so it was difficult to sell the products. As for exports, since mussels and oysters are live products, a lot of documentation is needed. Negotiations are underway for this stage, samples and necessary documentation have already been sent. We are waiting for feedback”, said Mamuka Mikashavidze.
The company Maricultura Georgia has been producing mussels and oysters since 2017 in Kvariati, the sea, aqua farm and sells the product in AgroHub, Europroduct and HoReCa sector.
