In 2025, active economic agents engaged in the organization of markets in Georgia generated GEL 208.8 million in revenue in 2025, according to data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The largest share of income came from renting commercial space, which accounted for 86.5% of total revenue, or GEL 180.7 million. Revenue from granting trading rights through one-time payments amounted to GEL 9.6 million (4.6%), while other sources generated GEL 18.6 million (8.9%).
During the same period, operating expenses of market and bazaar organizers reached GEL 128.6 million, including GEL 55.2 million spent on employee salaries. In total, 198 economic entities operating markets and bazaars were registered across Georgia in 2025, with the largest concentration in Tbilisi - 70 facilities, or 35.4% of the total.
Active markets occupy 2 million square meters of space, with 96.5% privately owned and 3.5% state-owned. In 2025, marketplaces had around 46,500 trading spaces, with an average of 36,100 vendors operating daily. Market administrations employed approximately 2,700 people, while the largest share of employment - 48.1% - was recorded in Tbilisi.
