According to Geostat’s 2025 business sector data, small businesses account for the largest share of employment, while medium-sized businesses pay the highest average monthly salary, exceeding the figure recorded by large companies.
In 2025, the average monthly salary of hired employees in Georgia’s business sector was GEL 2,198.4, up by GEL 173.9 year-on-year. By business size, the average salary was highest in medium-sized businesses at GEL 2,755.6, followed by large businesses at GEL 2,497.3 and small businesses at GEL 1,507.
The average salary in medium-sized businesses was GEL 557 higher than the sector-wide average. Large companies paid nearly GEL 258 less than medium-sized businesses, while the average salary in small businesses was almost GEL 1,248 lower than in medium-sized businesses and GEL 990 lower than in large companies.
A total of 899,000 people were employed in the business sector in 2025, including 827,200 hired employees. Small businesses accounted for 40.9% of employment, or about 367,700 people, followed by large businesses at 39.4% (about 354,200) and medium-sized businesses at 19.7% (about 177,100).
