The winter season is in full swing at Georgia’s mountain resorts. Representatives of hotel business at various resorts note that the most active period, the New Year holidays are over and therefore it is already possible to talk about the first results.

The owner of the Lahili Hotel in Mestia assesses the current season with bm.ge. As Levan Dadvani notes, they have bookings until January 10, and from the second half of January, the hotel is practically empty.

“We worked with over 70-80% load during the New Year. Activity will continue until January 10, then everything will be empty. We have no reservations in the second half of January and February,” explains the owner of Lahili.

Levan Dadvani also talks to bm.ge about the change in the tourist segment, and as he says, “the segment has changed radically.” According to him, the resort has almost no European visitors anymore. At the moment, Mestia is mostly visited by Russian tourists.

“The segment has changed radically. Traditionally, Georgian vacationers are active, but in addition to locals, Mestia is mainly visited by Russians. In these 10 days, I met only 20 people who were from Europe, all the rest were Russians. Russians also consider themselves to be in domestic tourism, because they say they are from Batumi.

European vacationers have changed their minds about coming because of the current situation in Georgia. This is natural. When you go on vacation and have to spend money, you prefer to choose a quiet environment,” notes Levan Dadvani.
