The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has launched criminal proceedings against 10 individuals over so-called fraudulent call centers. Among the key figures are brothers Giorgi Mikadze (b. 1974) and David Mikadze (b. 1982), who were part of a group reportedly protected by former Prosecutor General Otar Partskhaladze. The brothers allegedly ensured the “immunity” of certain call centers from law enforcement and competitor interference and were involved in major operational decisions between 2020–2023, when foreign nationals were allegedly defrauded of substantial amounts and cryptocurrency.

Giorgi Mikadze:

  • Chairman of the supervisory board of EM Group, which manages five restaurants in Tbilisi.
  • Holds 34% of Seguro, a company importing and selling food products.
  • Owner or part-owner of Betania 2008, Signagi 2008, and 33% of Grifi.

David Mikadze:

  • Shareholder and director in multiple companies, including Mayphone, which provides VOIP services allowing users to make calls via internet applications globally. David holds 45% of Mayphone since December 2022.
  • Other business interests include shares in Lisi-2014, AI Inspire, Hot-Dog & Burger, Wooden House, DexT, GetPay, and Grifi.

The brothers face charges under Articles 180 and 194 of the Georgian Criminal Code, which carry 9–12 years of imprisonment. David Mikadze’s acquisition of shares in Mayphone drew regulatory fines because the company failed to notify the Communications Commission prior to the transaction.
