Narek Mkrtchyan, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, stated that in 2022, the birth rate in large families of the country increased by 1.5 times compared to 2018. He made this announcement during hearings on the execution of the state budget for 2023.
In 2018, Armenian families welcomed 8,271 third or subsequent children (fourth, fifth, etc.), while in 2022, this figure reached 11,956.
The Minister also reminded that the total amount allocated for allowances for the birth of such children amounted to 10.4 billion drams (approximately $27 million).
