Minister Sarjveladze’s 2025 Declaration Shows Rising Savings and Extensive Family Assets

Georgia’s Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze increased his bank savings to GEL 200,000 in 2025, up from GEL 150,000 the previous year, an increase of GEL 50,000. According to the asset declaration he filed on February 27, Sarjveladze is married to physician Elene Shengelia and has two children. He was appointed Health Minister in March 2024 after previously serving as an MP and Chair of the Human Rights Committee.

In terms of income, Sarjveladze earned GEL 119,731 as minister in 2025. His wife received GEL 103,046 from multiple universities where she works as a visiting lecturer, and an additional GEL 7,450 from her medical practice at the Infectious Diseases and AIDS Center. The minister held GEL 33,022 in a salary account at Liberty Bank, GEL 200,000 in a term deposit generating GEL 17,123 interest, and an additional GEL 3,150 deposit at Bank of Georgia. His cash savings totaled GEL 12,500, double the amount reported the previous year. Shengelia also held several deposits at TBC Bank valued at 15,000; 48,000; 21,000; and 24,000 GEL.

All real estate owned by the family is registered under Sarjveladze’s wife. Her main apartment on Tsintsadze Street is valued at GEL 500,000, acquired through an exchange of gifted property with her brother. She also owns two land plots purchased in 2022 in Navdaraantkari, Mtskheta (1,795 sq.m., GEL 39,490 total), and a 600 sq.m. plot inherited in 2017 in Lavriskhevi, Kaspi. The minister personally owns a Lexus, purchased in 2024 for USD 10,293.

Sarjveladze lists only one major household expense: GEL 6,050 paid for his older child’s tuition.
