Tbilisi Municipal Inspectorate has dismantled several illegal constructions built in a recreational zone near Makhata Mountain, as part of ongoing efforts to protect the city’s green and public spaces.
According to the agency, organized groups have recently intensified their activities in the capital, carrying out unauthorized construction to seize and illegally develop state-owned territories. Many of these violations occur in recreational and forest zones, leading to the destruction of greenery and the cutting down of unique plants.
“We have identified problem areas in Tbilisi and are implementing targeted measures to prevent illegal construction and safeguard recreational and forest areas,” said Gogi Chikovani, Head of the Tbilisi Municipal Inspectorate. “Illegal construction not only involves the unlawful occupation of state land, it also damages valuable plants and destroys public spaces. We urge citizens not to engage in such activities, as the Inspectorate and other agencies will respond strictly in accordance with the law.”
The Inspectorate emphasized that strengthened monitoring and control mechanisms now enable the city to identify violations more quickly and take effective preventive measures to protect Tbilisi’s natural environment and urban landscape.
