Inspectors from the Kvemo Kartli Department of the National Food Agency have uncovered four unauthorised cheese production facilities in the region.

“Individual entrepreneur, identified as G.B. (address: Rustavi, Mshenebelta Street, M/T) was operating without registration in the Register of Economic Activities and without the mandatory recognition from the Agency. Additionally, the agency identified breaches of sanitary and hygienic standards, as well as notable inconsistencies at the site.

Furthermore, Cheese Line LLC (business registration number 426520883, address: Gardabani, Teleti village), along with individual entrepreneurs, identified as A.S. (address: Gardabani, Teleti) and Z.M. (Gardabani, Teleti), were found to be operating without the required recognition from the Agency for thermal processing of raw milk. The operators have been fined, and production has been suspended,” the National Food Agency stated.

The Agency once again urges business operators to apply for mandatory recognition promptly.

“Recognition affirms that a registered business’s activities comply with the requirements set out in Georgian legislation. Any business involved in the production (excluding primary production) and/or processing of animal-origin foodstuffs is obliged to apply to the National Food Agency before commencing operations. If the activities fully meet legal requirements, lifelong recognition is granted.

Details regarding the recognition process, applicable economic activities, and procedural guidance are available on the Agency’s website,” the National Food Agency’s statement concludes.
