National Food Agency inspects catering facilities near schools

საცხობი

To safeguard children’s health and ensure they receive safe, quality food, the National Food Agency regularly inspects food and catering facilities located near schools.

Routine inspections encompass both bakeries and nearby markets, where many customers are students. Agency inspectors evaluate the sanitary and hygienic conditions of these facilities, including the correct storage and sale of food, expiry dates, and adherence to other food safety standards.

Simultaneously, food outlets within schools and preschool institutions are subject to continuous monitoring. This year alone, the agency has conducted 6,000 inspections, uncovering 173 violations. The most common infractions include the sale of expired products, improper labelling, and operating without proper registration.

The National Food Agency urges consumers to report any suspicious food or violations to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture hotline at 15 01.

According to the National Food Agency, active and collaborative monitoring of the consumer market, alongside public vigilance, will enable the agency to identify and resolve discrepancies swiftly, safeguarding the safety and well-being of our children.
