National Wine Agency Releases Quality Control Statistics For Alcoholic Drinks

The National Wine Agency’s relevant services regularly inspect the quality of Georgian wine and other alcoholic beverages to strengthen the competitiveness of Georgian alcoholic beverages in both domestic and global markets.

“State control and state supervision, which involve assessing the conformity of the technological process of wine in enterprises with the standards set by Georgian legislation, were carried out in 31 companies during the first six months of this year,” the National Wine Agency said, adding that “violation was detected in 12 of the 173 samples tested.”

During the reporting period, 44 companies were inspected, and breaches were confirmed in 30 of the 233 samples collected. Certifications were denied to 12 entities. In addition, multinational auditing firms SGS and Bureau Veritas assessed the products of 83 enterprises in the economic zone of registration. In 12 of the 280 samples collected, violations were observed. The certificate was withdrawn from 12 companies. The inspection procedure includes verifying the conformance of the alcoholic beverage sample submitted for certification with the lot.

According to the National Wine Agency,143 tastings were held throughout the reporting period for organoleptic testing of export alcoholic drinks. A total of 6,274 samples were received, with 204 being classified as negative and the remainder as positive.
