Natural gas exports from Azerbaijan to Georgia continue to decrease, while from Russia - increased in 2024 like the previous year.
According to the data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia, between January-May 2024, Georgia bought natural gas worth USD 86.6 million from Russia, which was an annual increase of 11.9%, while exports from Azerbaijan decreased by 35% amounting to USD 118.5 million.
BMG requested information from GNERC about the exporting volumes from Azerbaijan and Russia. According to the data provided by the Commission, 468,985,079 m³ of natural gas was exported from Russia to Georgia in 5M24, which was an annual increase of 12.1%. While, from Azerbaijan, the decrease was 14% and in total 1 054 549 347 m³ of natural gas was exported to Georgia.
Accordingly, the price of 1000 m³ of Russian gas purchased by Georgia is approximately USD 185, whereas the price of Azerbaijan gas stands at USD 112.
