Georgia consumed 1.85 billion cubic meters of gas in 7M2023, - according to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat). Of which, only 9 million cubic meters of natural gas is local, the rest is fully imported.
Thermal power plants consumed 390 million cubic meters of natural gas, gas consumption has increased by 6.7% compared to the corresponding period of 2022.
In 8M2023, Georgia bought USD 293 million worth of natural gas, which was an annual increase of 14.5%. The cost of gas imported from Russia increased by 150% in 8M2023. Namley, natural gas worth more than USD 84.1 million was purchased in January-August of this year. Georgia imported gas worth almost USD 209 million from Azerbaijan, which was a decrease of 6%.
