NBG Acting Governor Met With Rolande Pryce, The New WB Regional Director For The South Caucasus

Natia Turnava, Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, met with Rolande Pryce, the new World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus. At the introductory meeting, Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia spoke about the implemented and future projects within the framework of long-term cooperation between the National Bank of Georgia and the World Bank. The discussion also covered the introduction of the instant payments system, supported by the World Bank.

"The World Bank has been one of the most important partners of Georgia for over 3 decades. The main topics of our discussion today were the projects that are implemented with the support of the World Bank. The instant payments system, being funded by the World Bank, is especially important. We also talked about other plans, including the development of sustainable finance and the capital market. Overall, it was a very positive meeting. Our cooperation will be even stronger in the future," Natia Turnava said.

"The World Bank is very privileged to have the opportunity to engage with the Central Bank of Georgia. We are working with the Central Bank on technical assistance to strengthen capacities, with lending operations, and the Central Bank has also contributed to our policy reform dialog with the government. So, today’s meeting was really operational in nature, it was to of course greet the Governor, I am new to the country, but also to speak about these various dimensions that we are collaborating on together," Rolande Pryce, the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, said.
