NBG fines 6 MFOs

The National Bank of Georgia fined 3 commercial banks (totaling 315 thousand GEL) and 11 microfinance organizations (totaling 870,700 GEL) this year.

The companies were fined within the framework of Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) supervision.

According to the latest decision published on August 10, JSC 'TeraBank' was fined 5 thousand GEL. Also this year, 'Credo Bank' was fined 60,000 GEL, while 'TBC Bank' was fined 250,000 GEL. Notably, in 2025, the NBG fined a total of 4 commercial banks.

As for microfinance organizations, the latest decision is dated August 3, when the NBG imposed a fine of 6,000 GEL on LLC 'Microfinance Organization Central'. The following MFOs were fined this year:

LLC 'MFO B Credit' – 4,000 GEL;

LLC 'MFO Express Capital +' – 4,300 GEL;

LLC 'Microfinance Organization Cross Credit' – 6,000 GEL;

JSC 'Microfinance Organization Georgian Capital' – 1,000 GEL;

JSC 'MFO Invest Georgia' – 17,000 GEL;

LLC 'Microfinance Organization Rico Express' – 94,000 GEL;

LLC 'Microfinance Organization Piazza Capital' – 17,300 GEL;

JSC 'Microfinance Organization Alpha Express' – 18,000 GEL;

LLC 'Microfinance Organization Bermeli' – 621,600 GEL;

LLC 'Microfinance Organization MJC' – 81,500 GEL.

In total, 6 MFOs were fined last year. According to the NBG annual report, in 2025, the total amount of financial penalties imposed for violating Georgian legislation on the prevention of money laundering and terrorism financing amounted to 9,588,950 GEL.
