NBG President meets Hungarian Ambassador to Georgia

President of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Natia Turnava met the newly appointed Ambassador of Hungary to Georgia, Petra Ponevác-Pana.

During the introductory meeting, the parties discussed opportunities to further deepen the existing relations between Georgia and Hungary, emphasising that the central banks of the two countries share a long-standing history of cooperation.

The NBG President briefed the Ambassador of Hungary on the key priorities and ongoing projects of the National Bank of Georgia.

It was noted that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is planned to be signed between the National Bank of Georgia and the Central Bank of Hungary. The MoU is expected to establish a solid institutional framework to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including in payment systems, financial services, and the exchange of best practices.

The parties also reviewed projects related to deepening regional cooperation.

Dominik Kári, Economic Counsellor of the Embassy of Hungary and Giorgi Edilashvili, Head of the International Relations Department of the National Bank of Georgia, attended the meeting.
